The AGM details:

  • Location – Bray Hall Community Centre, 3 Mundin Street, Petrie QLD
  • Date – 1st November 2024 beginning at 7.00 PM Sharp, we can access the facility at 6.00 PM for setting up seats, tables etc. Any help would be very appreciated.

Important Meeting Points:

  • The meeting structure and its content will be in strict compliance with the SAAMBR Constitution.
  • Only current financial members can vote at the AGM in accordance with clause 38(3) of the constitution.
  • Associate members cannot hold any position of office in accordance with clause 5(1)(b) of the constitution.
  • Nominations for positions within our management committee will be limited to five representatives in accordance with Section 18(1) of the constitution. Should you be considering nominating, please know that regular committee meetings will be required and a desire to drive our entire club forward be important to you.  Please note that nominations outside of those listed below will not be considered.
  • Management Committee available positions (4):
    • President.
    • Treasurer.
    • Secretary.
    • Management committee member.
    • This fifth position will be filled by the incumbent President in accordance with clause 18(3) of the constitution.
  • Committee Member available positions (2):
    • A representative from the Jim Gibson Field.
    • A representative from the Sid Bray Field.
  • Nomination forms for the available positions are available for download on our website.
  • The closing date for all nominations will be Friday 18th October 2024 12.00 PM Midnight, NO EXCEPTIONS in accordance with clause 19(b)(iii) of the constitution.
  • To ensure your nominations count please ensure they are duly filled out as detailed in section 19 and 39 of the constitution.
  • Delivery of all nominations must be via email to:   secretary@nullsaambr.asn.au   NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • In accordance with clause 19(3) of the constitution, 7 days prior to the AGM (Friday 25th October 2024), a list of all proposed candidates and their nominators along with the position nominated will be posted on the main building wall at each field.
  • All operational duties such as Maintenance Manager, Safety Officer, Chief Flying Instructor, etc. will be considered at the first committee meeting following the AGM and will not form part of the AGM as these positions are available to any member and do NOT require Committee Membership.

Preparing for the AGM.

  • Please carefully consider your proposed committee nominations for all positions carefully, especially the representative for your respective flying field as they will be the conduit for your voice at future committee meetings.
  • Give consideration in the days and weeks leading up to the AGM, if you would prefer a secret ballot in lieu of a showing of hands. We will be prepared with formal ballot papers should 20% or more of the meeting attendees request this at the AGM.
  • Please make yourself familiar with the entirety of our constitution as this will provide you with the scope in which you will have your say. A copy of our constitution is available as a download from our website.

Your engagement in our AGM is very important, ensuring the future of our club heads in a direction formed by the largest representation of members we can muster.  Please attend!
Finally, to all the members I have met so far and to those I am yet to meet, I look forward to contributing to our great club in whatever capacity I can.
